Custom Keyboard
Intro:  Okay so I have music and navigation from the computer, but I need a handy (non distracting) way to control it.

So I decided to follow in the footsteps of some other folks who have made custom controls for their CarPuter.

I didn't want to waste a good keyboard on this project, so I went to the local computer swap meet, and picked up a couple of keyboards for a couple of bucks.

I was hoping to do some easy soldering so I found the oldest heaviest PS/2 keyboard in the pile.
This old beast (notice no win keys) was perfect, it weighted about 70# so I figured it had a lot of wires etc.  (the newer ones have all surface mount and pressure fit connections)

I tested it before I did anything...to make sure I didn't have any surprizes...worked perfect.
This is the controller card that came out of the keyboard.

Showing is the backside with the ribbon cable already connected, as you can see, it is big and easy and plenty of places to solder.
