Custom Keyboard pg 2
These pads are what the keys connect to...keyboard technology uses a matrix (not THE MATRIX).  You touch one of the pads on the right to one on the left, and a keypress is created.  To make things easy for me I labled the 8 on the right A-H and the 16 on the left 1-16.   It is a 8 down by 16 across matrix.

Next I carefully plotted what combinations create what keys.  I just took a piece of wire and started jumping pads.  I plotted it on the matrix below.
Never mind the penmanship, I was holding it in my lap while I was jumping pads.  The X'd out ones are combinations that caused an error (don't exist).  As you can see it closely matches the keyboard layout.
